Meanness is contagious in much the same way as a smile is contagious. It is all about energy whether positive or negative. It does seem that negative energy seems to catch on more quickly than positive energy (i.e., meanness). This seems especially true for younger children and teens.

In the jungle meanness would have a survival skill. In "civilization" it leads to violence and national aggression.
A society trained to be mean is easily propelled into following a thug national leader into a war that will destroy a nation.
From high school bully to concentration camp guard, to killing off anyone who doesn't meet the standards set by the leader, to bombing civilian cities, to dying in the dirt for the propaganda of lunatics......

If some of our candidates lived next door to me, I'd move. They show meanness in a way that makes people cheer.
It saddens me that meanness has already permeated our country and some people can't see that their cheering on the mean candidates is one sign of the failing of our nation
